We absolutely knew that George Lucas was not done with the Star Wars universe. The Star Wars creator revealed to Fox News that he will make two more live-action Star Wars films.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

These will probably be made for TV and one hour long.

Why?

He needs a few more stacks of $100 bills to raise the bed in the guest room. It's so gauche to use $20s for that.

Can't be as bad as the last 3 stinkers.. If he wants to make them good then he needs to dirty up the CGI or use some old fashion techniques.. Either way the sets need to look like they are lived in.

And the actors need to be able to act. The dumbest scripts are made better by actors who can add some personality rather then just deliver what they think they are expected to deliver. That no name guy who played Anakin isn't a bad actor. Other stuff he has been in has been alright but every line in I, II, & III was delivered as garbage by just about every actor they had.

I'll go and see more Star Wars movies provided they are made for adults. No CG Muppet Babies needed. Just give us some guys wearing goofy looking masks and deliver an adventure rather than some poor attempt to push the envelope of technology. Obviously the original trilogy had some innovations but the lack of budget likely contributed to it's edge.

There must be a connection between unhappy actors delivering better performances and the new breed of spoiled actors delivering lines of diarrhea from their mouths.

Heh, if you click on one of the related links on the bottom of that you can read about how George Lucas also thought Empire Strikes Back was the worst Star Wars movie.
More and more I'm wishing he'd just become a hermit after the first trilogy and lived on his ranch doing nothing for the rest of his life. Not even talking.

If the acting was that bad in the last three films, how does that bode for the TV series?

Maybe they should start a reality show instead:

    1) Nightmares from the Ranch wherein actual Star Wars fans discuss nightmares and relationship problems engendered by George Lucas with a trained psychiatrist

    2) Survivor: Tatooine wherein contestants are left stranded on the set of the "final" Star Wars movie

    3) Finding Mr. Jedi wherein constestants must prove their mastery of the Force to win the hand of a princess who may (or may not) be their sister

My only fear is that Lucas will see your satire as reality and actually produce these shows. Actually, these shows might be pretty entertaining, especially the last one.

    Thanks Tom....

I hope not, but I did date someone who worked at the Ranch. And I did see Episode II a day before everyone else (excepting film critics, Lucasfilm staff, and one guest per Lucasfilm employee).

How about a "real life" follow-up, where Princess Leia spends the next several years addicted to death sticks, falls from grace, and pays her bills through cameos on Mike Myers films?

Here's the thing. Lucas always secretly hated Star Wars, and the success of the first trilogy irritated him to no end. He wanted to make THX-1138-2 1/2, but had to keep making damn Skywalker movies.

He thought it would peter out after Empire, but it didn't. He thought for sure people would stop bugging him after the ewoks, but still they kept on yapping. A 15-year hiatus couldn't shut them up.

So he keeps making terrible Star Wars movies, and each time he thinks "this is so awful, no one will buy in", and still we go see them. At this point it's a big game to him, as he keeps piling on the suck, and we keep giving him bajillions of bucks.

Meanwhile, his plans for American Graffiti 2: The Writing On The Wall still lie on the back burner.

Actually they already made an American Graffiti 2. He was contractually obligated to do another movie with the studio after the first one. It sucked.

Sure, the prequels aren't that great. But I look at it from a different perspective. I see the Star Wars universe as an escape. It is a place to go when you want to watch or read about someone having adventures in fantastical settings and situations. It may be simple of me, but I look forward to new SW content, in whatever form. I have seen the movies, read all the books (yes, all), and have all of the comics from around 1995 to the present. I think the Star Wars universe is a wonderful place, and if you look past the acting and occasional poor story writing, you will see it is a fun place. Pick up Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina and give it a read. You will find it entertaining and again, it is a nice escape.

Oh, and Timothy Zahn should write the scripts for the two new movies.

That's really the thing, though. I've read a large amount of expanded universe fiction and seen the original trilogy dozens of times and the truth is Lucas' writing doesn't compare to that of the initial trilogy or any of the people that have added to his universe since the ending credits of Jedi rolled. With Eps 1 and 2 it was almost to the point where his shoddy writing was detracting from the overall universe.

Point taken. The writing did cheapen it a bit, but I was hungry for more content. I really do hope he allows someone else creative control, but I cannot imagine that would happen. No matter the writer, I will still watch these if/when they come out.

It's amazing - and deeply sad - that someone who possesses the boundless imagination to have conceived Star Wars to begin with can't now leave it alone and move on to an entirely new idea?? He's already got more money than Lindsay Ho-han's dealer, why does he need to keep flogging *this* horse??

You know, just the other day I saw a People's magazine that had "before they were stars" and they had "child stars" in it too. There was a picture of Lohan and I said "aww she's cute...isn't she that cracked out ho now?"

I know so little of Lohan, I think I saw a picture of her once lately on the internets but I just have no interest in the new media brats like her, paris and brit.

Okay, okay. So the majority of you people hate 1-3. But, I actually enjoy them...Yes. I agree. 4 5 6 were classics. But I have to say I appreciate the fact that Lucas even took the time to make the "beginning" movies! I can't believe all of you people can just sit here and slash at the "new" generation of Star Wars!...Yeah, so what they're not like the old ones...and they may not be your favorites...But I don't think you should bad-mouth the time and effort George and all his staff put in to creating these other films for us!...If you're so angry with the results, why don't YOU write a dazzling script and produce the "greatest" Star Wars film of all time and maybe, just maybe, you can share the limelight with good o'l Lucas!?...Instead of sitting on your fat asses, claiming you know what it takes to produce a good Star Wars movie and he doesn't. And the fact that he wants to make two more movies..So what people?! He's got the money to do it, you obviously don't!...'Nough said.

Yes the first three wer amazing but i also think the new three wer not as bad as eveyone says sure they wer lacking but they answerd alot of ???? left from the first three they also greatly expanded the star wars universe and got a younger generation to take intrest in the films.  hopefullyf the next two that lucas comes out with are as gd or even better i will be very intrested in seeing them.
